The conference venue, Saint Paul School of Professional Studies (SPSPS), Campetic, Palo, Leyte is the town next to Tacloban City. From downtown Tacloban City, one can take a jeepney or a multi-cab with destination to Campetic. This jeepney/multi-cab will pass by the main gate of SPSPS.
Flights to Tacloban is available from Manila and Cebu City. There are multiple flights daily via Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cebu Pacific (CebPac) and Air Asia (AS). From Cebu, PAL and Cebupac are available twice daily.
There are also a number of busses from Manila via the Maharlika Highway or the AH26 Highway; it will take 18-20 hours depending on ferry schedule at Matnog Sorsogon to Allen in Northern Samar. Buses from Mindanao also passes by Tacloban and the travel time will depend on where you come from. Google Map will provide you a good estimate of your proposed itinerary. There are also a number of fast craft and ships from Cebu to Ormoc. There are also other ships from Cebu province (including Cebu City) that sails to other towns in Leyte and Samar. From these destinations, busses and 14 sitter vans regularly travel to Tacloban City.
DZR (Tacloban) Airport to SPSPS, Palo Leyte: If you take a plane, the point of entry to Leyte is via the DZR Airport. For the first day, a service vehicle will be available at the airport which you can join, you need to confirm your attendance early including your flight details so that the in-charge personnel can arrange a vehicle for you and for other participants. However, if you failed to catch the service, don’t worry, getting around is easy/simple, the airport is about 18 minutes to the venue. You can take any jeep available at the Airport (San Jose – Downtown Tacloban jeep) and alight at Coca Cola Plant. From there, you will transfer to another jeep/multicab marked Campetic. This multicab will pass by the main gate of SPSPS; the Mary Ngo auditorium is very adjacent. There are also taxi or motorized cab for hire but is a little pricy; they might ask you PhP 100 to PhP 200. This option is better if there are three of you; you just have to be a good barter to make them agree to bring you to SPSPS cheaper than PhP 100.00.
Cebu City (or Province) to SPSPS, Palo Leyte: The main route will be via Cebu City to Ormoc City. Other towns/cities in Leyte and Samar have also trips from various towns in Cebu Province. If you like the Cebu City route, it is advisable to take Ormoc City as the destination via Ship or Fast Craft. There is at least three Fast Craft with multiple travel schedules daily. Ships leave Cebu City for Ormoc City in the evening (see exact departure hours and what port, usually Pier 1) and arrive Ormoc very early in the morning (4:00 AM onwards) or around 6 to 8 hours depending on the situation. From the port of Ormoc, you will be greeted with vans that can bring you to anywhere in Leyte; take vans for Tacloban City. It will take you about 2 hours to pass by Palo Leyte on the van’s way to Tacloban. Please inform the driver that you will alight at the Candahug Palo intersection (its near Philippine Science Highschool, or tell the driver that you are going to SPSPS or to Campetic).
